THE HAGUE – Climate change and energy policy will be central themes in upcoming discussions between the Dutch government and Caribbean islands, according to Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
Jetten confirmed that both he and State Secretary Eric van der Burg will visit all six Caribbean islands later this spring to discuss cooperation on climate adaptation and sustainable development.
The government has committed to supporting local climate plans, including investments in renewable energy, improved infrastructure, and efforts to reduce energy costs.
Special attention will be given to the Caribbean Netherlands, including Bonaire, where climate adaptation and environmental policies are seen as urgent priorities.
