WILLEMSTAD – The Board of Financial Supervision (Cft) says Curaçao’s latest financial report does not provide enough information to determine how much revenue the government is receiving from licensing fees paid by online gambling operators and land-based casinos.
The revenues are recorded under the government’s broader “other revenue” category.
Through the second quarter of 2026, Curaçao recorded XCG 68 million in other revenue, XCG 11 million less than budgeted for the period.
The category includes licensing-fee revenue from online gambling providers and physical casinos.
However, the Cft said the second implementation report does not separately identify or explain these revenues, making it impossible for the financial supervisor to follow their actual performance.
The same section of the report indicates that the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten had not yet transferred licensing rights related to international payments for June.
The lack of detail concerning gambling revenues is noteworthy because Curaçao has been undergoing a major overhaul of the regulation and licensing of its online gambling industry.
The Cft does not state that gambling revenues are below expectations. Rather, its concern is that the way the income is presented in the implementation report prevents it from determining how those specific revenue streams are performing.
That distinction is important because the XCG 11 million shortfall applies to the broader “other revenue” category and cannot, based on the Cft letter, be attributed specifically to gambling-license revenue.
