WILLEMSTAD – The labor union CBV is increasing pressure on Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt, demanding clarity on the status of an investigation into salary increases for healthcare workers.
According to the union’s leadership, the Ministry of GMN committed to conducting a study into potential wage adjustments for employees in the healthcare sector. However, CBV says it is still waiting for a concrete update on when the investigation will be completed.
The union emphasized that it continues to advocate for improved working conditions and fair compensation for healthcare workers, who have long raised concerns about salaries in the sector. CBV is now calling on the minister to provide a clear timeline for the completion of the study and the next steps that will follow.
The issue comes at a time when pressure is mounting on the government of Curaçao to address challenges in the healthcare system, including staffing shortages and workload concerns.
CBV stated that it expects a definitive response from the ministry regarding the investigation, stressing that healthcare workers deserve transparency and timely action on matters affecting their income and job conditions.
So far, the Ministry of GMN has not publicly announced a specific completion date for the study.
