WILLEMSTAD – Carmabi has launched Ocean Guardian Day, a new hands-on conservation experience that combines environmental restoration, scientific education and outdoor adventure. The initiative gives participants the opportunity to actively contribute to the restoration of Curaçao's mangrove ecosystems while learning about the critical role these habitats play in protecting the island's environment.
The program begins at Seru Largu National Park, where participants will work alongside Carmabi conservation specialists on mangrove habitat restoration projects. The experience continues with a guided kayaking tour through the Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park, offering visitors a close look at one of the island's most important natural ecosystems.
During the tour, participants will learn how mangroves serve as vital nurseries for marine life, help protect coastlines from erosion and support healthy coastal and marine ecosystems.
Unlike traditional eco-tours, Ocean Guardian Day encourages visitors to take an active role in conservation rather than simply observing nature. Carmabi says the initiative is designed for anyone who wants to experience Curaçao's natural environment in a meaningful way while gaining insight into how scientific research and conservation efforts work together to protect the island's biodiversity.
Participants will also enjoy a lunch featuring as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, providing an opportunity to meet fellow nature enthusiasts and learn more about Curaçao's unique natural heritage.
According to Carmabi, the program is built on the idea that people are more likely to understand and protect nature when they experience it firsthand. By combining conservation, education and recreation, the organization hopes to inspire more people to become actively involved in preserving Curaçao's ecosystems.
Ocean Guardian Day will take place on Wednesday, August 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Activities will be held at Seru Largu National Park and the Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park.
Participation costs 125 Caribbean guilders per person, and the event is limited to 20 participants.
