Burglars Target Two KFC Locations, Steal Four Safes With Weekend Proceeds

Local, Police, | By Correspondent August 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Two KFC locations in Curaçao were burglarized early Monday morning, with thieves making off with four safes containing the restaurants’ weekend proceeds.

The break-ins occurred at the KFC branches in Brievengat and Santa Maria. In both cases, the perpetrators managed to gain access to the buildings and remove safes containing money collected over the weekend.

Authorities suspect the burglaries were carefully planned and are investigating whether the same group was responsible for both incidents.

Investigators also suspect that heavy-duty firefighting equipment stolen earlier this month from the fire station in Bandabou may have been used to force entry or remove the safes.

At the Santa Maria location, the burglars also managed to disable the alarm siren, further raising suspicions that the operation had been prepared in advance.

Police are investigating a possible connection between the two KFC burglaries and the earlier theft of the firefighting equipment.

Surveillance footage from the locations is being reviewed as investigators attempt to identify the perpetrators and reconstruct their movements.

The amount of money stolen from the two restaurants has not been disclosed. No arrests have been reported so far.
