WILLEMSTAD – The World Cup-themed decorations installed at Brionplein in support of Curaçao's national football team will be temporarily removed to make way for the island's upcoming Flag Day celebrations, utility company Aqualectra announced.

According to Aqualectra, the temporary removal is necessary to accommodate the festivities for Dia di Bandera (Flag Day), which will take place at Brionplein. The company said preparations for the national celebration take priority over the current World Cup display.

The decorations will be reinstalled once the Flag Day events have concluded, allowing residents and visitors to once again enjoy the popular installation.

The World Cup display was created as part of the "Ola Blou" (Blue Wave) campaign supporting Curaçao's historic participation in the FIFA World Cup. It features large images of members of the national football team, along with a giant soccer ball and other football-themed decorations that have transformed Brionplein into a focal point for fans celebrating the island's achievement.

The installation has become a popular attraction in recent weeks, drawing both locals and tourists eager to take photos and show their support for the national team during its World Cup campaign.
