Brazilian tourist airlifted from Klein Curaçao after knee injury

WILLEMSTAD – A 58-year-old Brazilian tourist was airlifted from Klein Curaçao on Tuesday morning after sustaining a serious knee injury, according to the Caribbean Coast Guard.

The Maritime Operations Center (MOC) received a report from a commercial vessel near Klein Curaçao requesting medical assistance. The tourist had dislocated her knee while attempting to board a small boat (dinghy).

Following consultation with a physician from CITRO, it was determined that the patient required urgent medical treatment at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

A Coast Guard helicopter was immediately deployed to the scene to evacuate the injured tourist. Upon arrival at Hato, ambulance personnel were on standby to transport her to CMC for further treatment.

Authorities did not provide further details on her condition.
