WILLEMSTAD – A new book exploring the link between tourism and well-being has been presented to the Governor of Curaçao, as discussions continue on the future direction of the island’s tourism sector.
On April 2, 2026, Robertico Croes paid a visit to Governor Mauritsz de Kort, accompanied by Muryad de Bruin, director of the Curaçao Tourist Board.

During the meeting, Croes presented a copy of his book A Journey to Happiness, which examines how tourism can contribute not only to economic growth but also to the well-being of both visitors and local communities.
The publication highlights the dual nature of tourism, pointing to its potential benefits while also addressing challenges such as environmental pressure. It advocates for a balanced and sustainable approach to tourism development.
The timing of the book aligns with ongoing work on the Curaçao Tourist Board’s Tourism Master Plan 2027–2032. This multi-year strategy aims to guide the sustainable and inclusive development of the island’s tourism sector, with a strong focus on community well-being.
Croes is expected to be involved in supporting this process, bringing his expertise to the development of the new tourism strategy.
The meeting underscores the growing emphasis on integrating economic growth with quality of life considerations as Curaçao shapes the future of its tourism industry.
