WILLEMSTAD – A boat that ran aground on rocks near the entrance of Santa Barbara Marina was rescued Sunday evening during a joint operation involving CITRO Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard.

According to CITRO Curaçao, volunteers received a report around 7:00 p.m. that a vessel had become stuck on rocks near the entrance of Spanish Water.
When responders arrived at the scene, the Coast Guard had already begun the initial rescue operation. Using a patrol boat, the Coast Guard was able to pull the vessel free from the rocks.
After the boat was released, CITRO volunteers took over the operation using their rescue vessel C-Rescue 1.
The damaged boat was then towed to a safe location where it could be removed from the water. According to CITRO, the operation helped prevent further damage to the vessel.
