WILLEMSTAD – The Fundashon Bicentini WK 2026 for children in Curaçao is rapidly evolving into more than just a football tournament, emerging as a large-scale initiative focused on youth development through sport.

With 48 teams participating and more than 100 matches scheduled, the event has grown significantly in size and ambition. Organizers say the tournament is designed not only to provide competition, but also to create opportunities for personal growth, teamwork and community engagement among young players.

The group stage continues this Sunday, April 26, at the SUBT stadium in Saliña, where matches will be played throughout the day. The tournament format mirrors that of an official World Cup, with teams representing different countries and competing in group stages, adding an international dimension to the experience.

The initiative is led by Fundashon Bicentini under the direction of former national team coach Remko Bicentini. The foundation works in collaboration with local partners and donors, giving the project a broad base of support within the community.

According to organizers, this backing allows the tournament to extend beyond sport, positioning it as a platform for youth empowerment and social development on the island.

The event has also attracted growing public interest. Matches are being attended by parents, local residents and supporters, creating an atmosphere that participants describe as comparable to international competitions.

As the tournament continues, organizers hope to further strengthen its role as a positive force in the lives of young people in Curaçao, using football as a tool to inspire and connect communities.
