Authorities Suspend Venezuelan Fruit Boat Operations After Finding Prohibited Products

Local, Police, | By Correspondent June 24, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Authorities have temporarily suspended the operations of fruit boats arriving from Venezuela after inspectors discovered several products being offered for sale that are not permitted under Curaçao’s import regulations.

The decision was taken following an inspection conducted on Tuesday morning, during which officials found a number of unauthorized products aboard the vessels.

According to authorities, all operations involving the fruit boats have been halted until further notice.

Officials stated that operators of the Venezuelan fruit boats have repeatedly been warned about the need to comply with Curaçao’s import and trade regulations. Despite multiple warnings, authorities say several operators have continued to violate the applicable rules.

The latest enforcement action comes as authorities intensify efforts to ensure that imported goods meet legal and regulatory requirements intended to protect public health, safety, and fair trade practices.

No details were immediately released regarding the specific products that were confiscated or found to be in violation of the regulations.

Authorities have indicated that operations will remain suspended until the situation is resolved and operators demonstrate compliance with the island’s import requirements.
