Authorities carry out targeted inspections on public transport vehicles

WILLEMSTAD – Police and the Project Team for Supervision and Enforcement (PTH) conducted targeted inspections of public transport vehicles on Tuesday, March 24, focusing on taxis and tour vehicles.

The operation took place along Gouverneur van Slobbeweg near Megapier between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. A total of 25 vehicles used for public transportation were inspected during the controls.

Drivers found in violation of traffic and public transport regulations were issued fines. In total, 12 fines were handed out.

Most of the violations were related to illegal window tinting. Ten drivers were fined for having front windows with less than the legally required 35 percent light transmission. One fine was issued for a fully tinted windshield.

In addition, one driver was fined for operating a tour vehicle without the required permit, after displaying “sightseeing” on the vehicle without proper authorization.

Authorities indicated that such inspections are part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and compliance within the public transport sector.
