WILLEMSTAD – Aruba Prime Minister Mike Eman visited the Jewish Museum Curaçao, where he had the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Jewish community in the Caribbean and discover connections between that history and his own family heritage.
Eman was welcomed to the museum by its president, Michèle Russel-Capriles, who expressed her satisfaction at finally having the opportunity to receive the Aruban prime minister.

During the visit, Eman explored the history and legacy of the Jewish community in Curaçao and the wider Caribbean. The visit also took on a personal dimension as several connections emerged between the historical material presented at the museum and Eman's own family background.
Eman and Russel-Capriles share a family connection that links them to an important part of the history of both Aruba and Curaçao.
The Jewish community of Curaçao has played a significant role in the island's history, with its presence extending back several centuries. The Jewish Museum Curaçao preserves and presents this heritage through historical objects, documents and stories about the community and its contribution to Curaçao and the Caribbean.
Eman's visit highlighted not only the historical ties between Aruba and Curaçao but also the family connections that have developed between the islands over generations.
The encounter provided an opportunity for the Aruban prime minister to gain a deeper understanding of how the histories of the two islands intersect through migration, commerce, family relationships and their shared Caribbean past.
