WILLEMSTAD, ORANJESTAD – Curaçao and Aruba have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the digital transformation of government services and education, marking a new step in collaboration between the two countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The agreement was signed in Oranjestad by Curaçao's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Sithree van Heydoorn, and Aruba's Minister of Education and Sports, Gerlien Croes.
The partnership focuses on advancing digital government services, education digitalization, and data-driven policymaking. Areas of cooperation include education information systems, digital student records, diploma registries, student tracking systems, interoperability between government databases, and the expansion of digital public services.
A key component of the agreement is the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two islands.
Curaçao is currently developing the Central National Education Application (CLOA), while Aruba is continuing to expand its digital government infrastructure and improve data sharing among government agencies. By sharing expertise and best practices, both countries aim to accelerate innovation and improve the efficiency of their public services.
The agreement also supports the digitalization objectives outlined in the Kingdom Reform Packages (Landspakketten) and follows commitments made during the Four Countries Consultation on education and innovation.
"Quality education and good governance begin with reliable information," Minister Van Heydoorn said. "By sharing knowledge and experience, we strengthen both our education system and our public services."
Aruban Minister Gerlien Croes emphasized the practical benefits of the partnership.
"By working together, we can learn faster, work more efficiently, and achieve better results for our citizens," she said.
With the signing of the agreement, Aruba and Curaçao reaffirmed their shared ambition to invest in modern, innovative, and future-ready governments capable of delivering better digital services to their citizens.
