Aruba Airport ends shoe removal requirement at security checkpoints

| By Correspondent March 13, 2026

ORANJESTAD – Passengers departing from Aruba’s international airport will no longer be required to remove their shoes during security screening, according to an announcement by the Aruba Airport Authority (AAA). The new procedure took effect today.

AAA said the change is intended to make the screening process faster and more comfortable for travelers while maintaining international aviation security standards.

Under the new procedure, passengers can now pass through security without taking off their shoes, a measure that is expected to reduce waiting times and improve passenger flow at security checkpoints.

According to the airport authority, the adjustment has been made possible through improvements in security infrastructure and close cooperation with partners responsible for aviation security.

Travelers are still advised to arrive at the airport on time and to continue following existing regulations regarding liquids, electronic devices and travel documentation.

Aruba’s airport is one of the busiest in the Caribbean. More than 24 airlines operate flights to the island, which handles over 3.2 million passengers annually with connections to 31 countries and 45 direct destinations worldwide.
