SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican flagship airline Arajet continues to consolidate its position as one of the leading aviation companies in the country in terms of passengers transported, according to statistics published by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

Arajet closed the month of March with the highest passenger numbers in its history, reaching nearly half a million people transported in the first quarter of the year, including connecting passengers, for a total of 496,218. January was the company’s best month, while March ranked as the second best, with around 150,000 passengers transported, according to JAC data, in addition to approximately 16,000 travelers who used the airline to connect to other destinations, using the Dominican Republic as a stopover.

These results position Arajet as the fourth most important airline for the Dominican Republic during the quarter, behind JetBlue in first place, followed by American Airlines and, by a very narrow margin, Delta Air Lines in third place.

“We continue working to make Arajet the leading airline in terms of passengers for the country, as well as to further establish the Dominican Republic as the new air hub of the American continent,” said Víctor Pacheco, who noted that the company maintains its goal of closing 2026 with over 2 million passengers transported.

According to JAC data, the destination with the highest passenger volume for Arajet was New York, followed by Buenos Aires, Miami, Medellín, and Bogotá. Additionally, the positive effects of the open skies agreement with the United States are already becoming evident, as 25% of the airline’s passengers either originated from or traveled to that country.

The second most relevant market for the company was Colombia, accounting for 18% of total passengers, followed by Argentina with 14%, reflecting Arajet’s sustained growth in South America and its regional expansion strategy.

With these results, Arajet reaffirms its commitment to continue expanding its destination network, strengthening the country’s air connectivity, and offering competitive fares that promote tourism, trade, and economic development in the Dominican Republic.
