WILLEMSTAD – Aqualectra posted a net profit of more than 24 million guilders in 2025, according to its annual financial report released this week, marking what the company describes as the conclusion of a five-year strategic recovery period.

The state-owned utility said the result reflects progress made in restoring stability, strengthening infrastructure, and advancing sustainability in Curaçao’s water and electricity supply systems.

In 2025 alone, Aqualectra invested more than 232 million guilders in key infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, electricity grid improvements, and water security initiatives. Over the past five years, total investments have exceeded 543 million guilders.

Among the major completed projects are the wind farm at Koraal Tabak, a battery storage system, and preparatory work for a new water production plant at Hato West.

According to the company, these investments are helping maintain stable electricity and water tariffs despite volatility in international energy markets, which continue to affect fuel and operational costs worldwide.

Aqualectra said the completed strategic cycle focused on recovery and modernization, laying the foundation for its next long-term development phase leading up to 2030.

The company has repeatedly stated its goal of increasing renewable energy production and strengthening the island’s utility resilience as part of Curaçao’s broader sustainability ambitions.
