WILLEMSTAD – Two electricity generation engines operated by Aqualectra have surpassed 100,000 operating hours, marking a major technical milestone for Curaçao’s power infrastructure.
Technology company Everllence presented an official recognition to Aqualectra on April 15, 2026, in acknowledgment of the achievement.
The engines involved are 18V 32/40CD units that have been in continuous operation on Curaçao for more than 23 years and are reportedly still functioning in good condition.
According to Everllence, the milestone highlights both the durability of the installations and the importance of consistent maintenance over long operational periods.
The engines continue to play an important role in Curaçao’s electricity generation system at a time when reliable energy production remains a key issue for the island.
Curaçao’s power infrastructure has faced increasing pressure in recent years due to aging installations, maintenance demands, and peak electricity consumption periods.
Everllence stated that the engines demonstrate how long-term operational reliability can be achieved through regular maintenance and the use of original components.
The company also noted that the achievement reflects the longstanding cooperation between Everllence and Aqualectra in the fields of power generation and technical maintenance.
The recognition comes as Curaçao continues broader efforts to modernize and stabilize its energy system while increasing investments in renewable energy and battery storage infrastructure.
