American Airlines marks 55 years of flights between the United States and Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – American Airlines has marked a major milestone, celebrating 55 years of air service between the United States and Curaçao.

The anniversary was commemorated during a special gathering attended by representatives of American Airlines, partners from the aviation sector and Minister of Economic Development Roderick van Heydoorn.

During the event, speakers highlighted the long-standing relationship between the airline and the island, emphasizing the role American Airlines has played for decades in connecting Curaçao to the United States and the wider international market.

Since launching its service more than half a century ago, the airline has been an important contributor to the development of tourism and economic growth on the island. Through its network, Curaçao has been linked to major U.S. cities, facilitating travel for tourists, business visitors and residents.

Officials noted that reliable air connectivity remains a key factor in strengthening the island’s tourism sector and maintaining strong economic ties with international markets.

The government of Curaçao expressed appreciation for the airline’s continued commitment to the island and the confidence American Airlines has shown in Curaçao over the past 55 years.

Authorities and aviation partners also indicated they look forward to further cooperation and new opportunities to expand connectivity between Curaçao and destinations in the United States in the years ahead.
