Alzheimer Curaçao Takes Dementia Awareness Campaign Into Schools and Communities

Local, | By Correspondent September 14, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Stichting Alzheimer Curaçao is spending the month of September raising awareness about dementia across the island, with particular attention being given to educating young people and promoting ways residents can protect their brain health.

Throughout the month, representatives and volunteers from the foundation are visiting schools and organizations while also appearing on television and radio programs to provide information about dementia.

The campaign is intended not only to increase understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals and families, but also to encourage discussion about brain health and preventive measures that can be taken where possible.

Stichting Alzheimer Curaçao said special attention is being directed toward young people because education and awareness about dementia and healthy lifestyles should begin at an early age.

By taking the message into schools, the organization hopes younger generations will develop a better understanding of dementia, including the challenges faced by people living with the condition and those who care for them.

The foundation is also using the campaign to emphasize the importance of taking care of the brain throughout life and increasing public knowledge about factors that may contribute to maintaining brain health.

The September activities are being carried out with the support of Stichting Alzheimer Curaçao's board and volunteers, who are contributing their time to reach as many people as possible.

The foundation expressed appreciation to everyone participating in the campaign and said their commitment is helping bring the message about dementia awareness and brain health to a wider section of the Curaçao community.
