ATLANTA – Curaçaoan infielder Ozzie Albies continued his impressive run in Major League Baseball over the weekend, extending his hitting streak and strengthening his place among the league’s top performers this season.
The Atlanta Braves second baseman collected five hits in eleven at-bats across the weekend, scoring four runs and driving in two more as Atlanta continued its regular-season campaign.

With those performances, Albies extended his hitting streak to fifteen consecutive games, matching his personal best. During that stretch, the Curaçao-born star has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball, posting a .421 batting average, scoring fourteen runs, blasting three home runs and driving in thirteen runs.
Albies’ strong form has also pushed him into the top tier of MLB hitters this season. With 45 hits so far, he is currently tied for the league lead, sharing that position with teammates and other top hitters across the majors. His overall season numbers remain impressive, carrying a .333 batting average with seven home runs and 22 RBIs.
Meanwhile, fellow Curaçaoan Ceddanne Rafaela had a quieter weekend for the Boston Red Sox, recording two hits in eleven at-bats over three games. Rafaela now holds a .255 batting average for the season, with one home run and ten RBIs. He also registered his first stolen base of the year.
Veteran shortstop Xander Bogaerts made an important contribution for the San Diego Padres. Bogaerts went two-for-ten over the weekend but came through in Sunday’s game, going two-for-four with a run scored and an RBI. His decisive hit in the eighth inning helped the Padres secure a narrow 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Bogaerts also reached another career milestone, stealing the 130th base of his Major League career. His season average now stands at .269, with five home runs and eighteen RBIs.
Closer Kenley Jansen of the Detroit Tigers did not see action over the weekend. Jansen currently has six saves this season as he continues to serve as one of Detroit’s bullpen anchors.
The performances underline Curaçao’s continued strong presence in Major League Baseball, with several of the island’s players making significant contributions for their clubs early in the season.
