96% Economic Compliance During Carnival Weekend Parades

WILLEMSTAD – The Economic Inspection reported a high level of compliance during the Carnival weekend parades, with 96 percent of inspected businesses meeting economic regulations.

Inspections were carried out on Friday, February 13, Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, 2026, during the various Carnival parades. The controls focused on horeca establishments, temporary vending locations (standplaatsen), and mobile vendors.

In total, 158 inspections were conducted over the three days. On Friday, 61 inspections took place during the Teen Parade. On Saturday, 34 inspections were carried out in Banda Bou. On Sunday, 63 inspections were conducted during the Gran Marcha.

The inspections covered 79 standplaatsen, 37 mobile vendors, and 42 horeca businesses.

As a result of the inspections, six warnings were issued. Three warnings were related to incorrect or missing price indications, two were issued because operating permits were not displayed at the business location, and one warning was given for the sale of beer in glass bottles.

According to the Economic Inspection, the overall compliance rate demonstrates that the vast majority of businesses adhered to the applicable economic rules and regulations during the busy Carnival weekend.
