WILLEMSTAD – Fifty young people have successfully completed a two-month summer work program organized by the Ministry of Governance, Planning and Public Service (BPD), gaining practical work experience across different government departments.
The program ran from June 7 through August 7, 2026, and provided participants with an opportunity to work within various departments of the ministry. During this period, they contributed to daily operations while gaining firsthand experience of what it is like to work within the Curaçao government.
According to BPD, the initiative was intended to offer much more than temporary summer employment. Participants were able to develop practical and professional skills that could benefit them in their studies and future careers.
Through their involvement in the different departments, the young participants also gained a better understanding of the role government services play in Curaçao society and the work carried out by public employees on a daily basis.
To mark the successful completion of the program, BPD organized a special closing ceremony for the participants. Each young person received a certificate recognizing their work, commitment and contribution during the two-month period.
The ministry said it was particularly pleased with the enthusiasm, motivation and willingness to learn demonstrated by the group throughout the program.
BPD described the experience as an investment in Curaçao’s younger generation and wished all 50 participants success as they continue their education and eventually enter the labor market.
