WILLEMSTAD – Young people interested in a career in Curaçao's justice sector still have time to apply to become police officers, firefighters or security officers, according to Justice Minister Shalten Hato.
The minister announced that applicants have 45 days remaining to submit their applications before the registration period officially closes on August 31, 2026.
Hato encouraged all young people aged 17 and older who dream of serving the community not to miss the opportunity.
"There are still 45 days left to apply to become a police officer, firefighter or security officer," the minister said, urging interested candidates to prepare and submit their applications as soon as possible.
During the recent Punda Vibes event, many young people visited information booths hosted by the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), the Curaçao Fire Department and the Curaçao Detention and Correction Center (SDKK) to learn more about career opportunities within the justice sector.
According to the Ministry of Justice, while many attendees expressed strong interest, several arrived without the required digital résumé (CV) and motivation letter needed to complete their applications.
Applications can be submitted online through www.traboudenhustisia.com. Required documents include an updated CV, a copy of a valid identification document and a motivation letter.
The Punda Vibes event also gave prospective applicants the opportunity to test their physical fitness by participating in the Functional Movement Observation (FMO) test conducted by KPC and the fitness assessment organized by the Curaçao Fire Department. The ministry described the initiative as a great success, saying it provided participants with a better understanding of the physical demands associated with the professions.
Once the application period closes on August 31, each justice organization will review the submissions to determine whether candidates meet the established requirements. Those who qualify will be invited to participate in physical testing, followed by the Ministry of Justice's "Match Days" selection process.
The Ministry of Justice is encouraging interested candidates not to wait until the final days of the application period and to use the current vacation period to gather the necessary documents and complete their applications.
