Local, | By Press release October 23, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A total of 106 people officially acquired Dutch citizenship during two naturalization ceremonies held at the Governor's Palace in Curaçao on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The ceremonies were presided over by the Governor of Curaçao, His Excellency Mauritsz de Kort, before whom the new citizens made their formal Declaration of Solidarity, known in Dutch as the verklaring van verbondenheid.

By completing this declaration, all 106 participants fulfilled the final ceremonial requirement of the naturalization process and officially obtained Dutch nationality.

The Declaration of Solidarity is an important part of the Dutch naturalization procedure. Through the declaration, new citizens affirm their commitment to respecting the constitutional order of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and fulfilling the responsibilities associated with Dutch citizenship.

Dutch nationality provides individuals with the rights and responsibilities of citizenship within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, including the ability to obtain a Dutch passport and the rights associated with citizenship of the European Union.

The two ceremonies marked a significant milestone for the participants, formally recognizing their transition to Dutch citizenship after completing the required naturalization procedures.

The Governor's Office confirmed the ceremonies in an announcement published on October 22, accompanied by a photograph showing Governor De Kort with some of the newly naturalized citizens at the Governor's Palace.

The announcement did not provide details about the participants' countries of origin or the length of time they had lived in Curaçao before obtaining Dutch nationality.
