UDC launches hybrid bachelor's program in Hotel Management

WILLEMSTAD - Starting from September this year, the University of the Dutch Caribbean (UDC) in Curaçao, in collaboration with Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, will offer a new, internationally oriented bachelor's program in hotel management. The program, unique for its hybrid structure, allows students to study the first and final year in Curaçao, while the second and third years take place in the Netherlands.

This innovative program not only provides students with the opportunity to gain experiences in two different countries but also to receive diplomas from both educational institutions. "This makes our program distinctive," said the UDC management. "It provides students with a solid foundation within the tourism sector, both locally and internationally."

The hybrid setup is seen as a significant asset for both students and the tourism sector of Curaçao. "We start on the island so that students can begin in their familiar environment. After two years in the Netherlands, they return for practical experience in Curaçao," explained the management.

The program focuses on educating resourceful hospitality experts, ready to develop innovative and sustainable concepts within the hospitality industry. "We prepare students for a future where they can make a positive impact on society," said the management.

With the growth of tourism in Curaçao and the increasing demand for hospitality professionals, this new program addresses a crucial need. "The success of our island in the tourism sector depends in part on well-trained professionals. With this program, UDC and Saxion contribute to the future of the tourism sector in Curaçao."
