WILLEMSTAD - The trend of 'revenge travel' is about to collapse. This is according to the director of Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA) Maria-Helena Seferina-Rojas during a members meeting.
Revenge travel is a term used for an increase in the number of holidays that follows a period of no travel, as is now the case after the corona pandemic. As a result, people travel longer and spend more money. Seferina-Rojas indicates that the sector must be prepared for the loss of revenge travel. This by, for example, attracting more American and Canadian markets.
Not only the number of hotel rooms, but also the number of activities must be expanded in order to grow the number of tourists, according to the CHATA chairman. The focus must be on wellness, Seferina-Rojas mentions offering unique experiences such as 'mondi-goat yoga' as an example.
