SCHIPHOL - Many Dutch people want to go on holiday as soon as possible now that their government has labeled several countries as safe enough for non-essential travel, including Aruba and Curaçao. This creates a lot of work for travel organizations.
At the TUI travel agencies, according to a spokeswoman, customers come and go and the call centers are also busy. Frequently heard holiday destinations are Greece, Gran Canaria and Curaçao.
Some customers already book holidays starting in a few weeks. “We already saw that it was very busy for the summer bookings. Now that it has been fully confirmed, bookings are already being made on the much shorter term. It is really last minute. We are talking about the end of May.”
TUI will therefore start with more weekly flights to Curaçao and Aruba. Now there are two more flights a week, but that will be five and ultimately TUI wants to visit the islands daily.
Corendon has also noticed that bookings are shifting forward. “By far the most bookings are for the summer holidays, with July now being the most popular month. Until recently it was August. Consumers therefore dare to book again for the start of the school holidays.”
