WILLEMSTAD - KLM is taking additional measures due to the shortage of security personnel at Schiphol. These measures have no impact on the flight schedule to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, regional manager Dirk Buitelaar confirms to the Dutch news site NU.cw.
The shortage and the increasing holiday crowds have been causing huge crowds at the airport for weeks. As a result of these developments, Schiphol has decided to process a maximum number of departing travelers per day as of 7 July. The airport will cancel a large number of flights from that day through the end of the month.
KLM previously announced that a limit will be set on the number of tickets that are still sold during the peak period. In addition, the airline will cancel between ten and twenty extra European return flights daily until August 28.
