KLM expects lower visitor numbers in the Caribbean

WILLEMSTAD - Global tourism is gaining momentum after the coronavirus outbreak. This will have consequences for passenger numbers to the Dutch part of the Caribbean. That is according to regional manager of KLM Dirk Buitelaar in an interview with the Dutch news site NU.cw.

Buitelaar expects that the number of passengers to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom will decrease in the coming period. Travelers have more choice again because the world is opening up more and more. More and more holiday countries are relaxing the entry and corona measures.

Previously, tourists had little choice when it came to holiday destinations. The ABC islands were open, so many people looked up to the sun here. It was therefore very busy on the islands and the flights were often full.

Despite the expectation for lower visitor numbers, Buitelaar advises tourists who want to come to the Caribbean to book early. “The prices of the tickets are getting higher and higher,” said the regional manager.
