December was a good month for small accommodations

WILLEMSTAD - Managers of small accommodations in Curaçao are satisfied with the past December. There was an increased demand for accommodations, transportation, attractions, and diving activities, a trend that was already visible in November.

This increase is, according to Casha, partly driven by more flights from Europe, which has led to more affordable individual flight tickets.

Casha is an association with more than 95 members and 53 accommodations. These members together represent 25 percent of the rooms in the alternative accommodation category.

The total occupancy rate for accommodations was seventy percent in December, slightly higher for car rentals at 75 percent, and seventy percent was also measured for tourist activities. Dive schools within Casha had an occupancy rate of sixty percent.

These figures may be somewhat conservative since some members who achieved almost full occupancy did not officially report their figures.
