WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board proudly announces another remarkable double-digit growth in stayover arrivals. The island experienced a solid 18% rise in arrivals compared to August of the previous year, with 9,033 more stayover visitors recorded. In total, 58,291 stayover visitors were welcomed in August 2024.
The last weekend of August experienced a significant influx of visitors thanks to the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival. Preliminary data indicates that this edition attracted a substantial number of tourists, especially from Aruba, Suriname, Colombia, Brazil, the United States, and the Netherlands.

The Netherlands: 20,935 Dutch visitors are registered in August, marking a 22% increase compared to the 17,146 stayover arrivals in August 2023. Most of the Dutch visitors opted for non-resorts accommodation (52%), while the remaining 48% stayed at a resort during their stay. The Dutch stayed for an average of 11.7 nights in August.
United States of America: USA continues to be a strong market, recording 24% increase from 11,834 in August 2023, totaling 14,703 arrivals in August 2024. The accommodation preferences for the US market are the broad offering of resort hotels (69%), while the remaining 31% opted for other lodging options available on the island. On average US visitors stayed 5.6 nights in August. Visitors from the USA are primarily from New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
Colombia: Visitors from Colombia grew by 37% with 4,317 arrivals in August 2024 compared to 3,153 in August 2023. On average, Colombian visitors spent 4.9 nights in August. In terms of accommodation choices, 54% of the Colombian visitors opted for resort hotels.
Year to date highlights of 2024
The first eight months of 2024 have shown impressive performance, with 464,017 stayover arrivals, representing a 24% growth compared to the same period last year. All markets of focus are showing great arrival numbers in the first eight months. So far Curaçao welcomed 165,980 Dutch visitors, out of the USA 120,078 visitors are registered. Colombia, Brazil, and Canada registered 31,272, 27,981 and 23,505 respectively. Counting cruise visitors, day trippers and stayover arrivals, a total of 1,042,754 were registered from January through August 2024, a 23% increase compared to the same period last year.
