Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao opens its doors: unique city hotel with ocean view welcomes all

WILLEMSTAD - Courtyard by Marriott®, part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of 32 hotel brands, has officially opened its doors in Curaçao today. The new hotel, located at Pater Euwensweg 11 in Otrobanda, features 150 rooms and two suites. It offers a modern and flexible hotel experience, with design elements reflecting the nature and culture of Curaçao. The hotel operates as a Courtyard by Marriott franchise, is owned by CMC Real Estate, and is managed by Highgate.

The special opening event today was attended by the entire team, project developers, owners, financial partners, and the press from Curaçao.

After an opening speech by General Manager Ernst van Zutphen, in which he highlighted the hard work of Courtyard's dedicated team and invited everyone to experience the hotel soon, Alberto da Costa Figueira of CMC Operations N.V. took the floor. He expressed his enthusiasm about this milestone: "Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao represents the perfect synergy between Courtyard's business ethos and the vibrant character and culture of Curaçao." Da Costa Figueira continued, "We have created a welcoming place where both business and leisure guests can immerse themselves in the local culture, enjoy top-of-the-line amenities, and experience the exceptional service for which Marriott is renowned. Courtyard Curaçao has become a place where everyone is welcome. The place in Curaçao for a high-quality stay in a surprising environment," said Da Costa Figueira.

Following the opening speeches, co-owner Gilbert Ricardo of Stichting Particulier Fonds Otrobanda spoke emotionally about the strength and resilience of the entire Courtyard Curaçao team and how special it is that the Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao can operate under a local flag. He expressed his pride in the result, stating, “It surpasses everyone's expectations.”

Lastly, Ulrich Dalnoot from Vidanova Pension Fund took the floor. He spoke about the unique collaboration with various financial partners on the island, which collectively ensured that Courtyard Curaçao could open its doors today. “We are particularly proud to call ourselves co-owners of Courtyard Curaçao; a project where local dedication and international expertise beautifully come together,” said Dalnoot. “We look forward to the future of this unique hotel with confidence and toast to many more successful collaborations.”

After a blessing, the owners, together with the children of the hotel management, officially opened the hotel, followed by a festive welcome for the first guests. Courtyard Curaçao received the Josefina family as honored guests. After a difficult time with their newborn son, who recently spent four weeks in the NICU at the nearby CMC, they were now able to enjoy a stay at the hotel as a family.

The hotel features Courtyard's latest room designs, where warm and neutral colors create a sense of peace and sophistication. The modern beds, ambient lighting, and specially designed sofa bed provide a high level of comfort. Additionally, the rooms are equipped with a smartly designed valet station with a refrigerator and coffee maker, as well as a 55-inch TV that can be swiveled for optimal viewing pleasure from both the bed and the sofa. All rooms also feature USB and USB-C plugs for optimal connectivity.

The lobby of Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao is a modern and open space, with Centro Gastrobar at its center serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu offers a wide range of world dishes with a contemporary twist. In the evening, Centro Gastrobar provides a selection of refined cocktails and a shareable dinner menu, along with an extensive local entertainment program.

Other hotel amenities include a swimming pool with a restaurant and a children's pool, as well as 260 square meters of meeting and event space, capable of hosting events for up to 210 people.

Reservations are being accepted from today, and the hotel team looks forward to welcoming guests from Curaçao and around the world, offering them an extremely comfortable stay in the heart of the island.
