40 local talents working at TUI

WILLEMSTAD - Travel organization TUI has hired 40 local people in Curaçao. 30 people will work at the customer services center and 10 as digital tour guides.

"Travel at this time is different from what we were used to. But with good preparation and guidance from the travel organization, nothing stands in the way of a pleasant holiday. In order to optimally assist its travelers before and during the holiday, TUI has developed the existing customer services center, for all questions from guests before departure, expanded with about 30 new colleagues," says TUI.

In addition, a new team of 10 colleagues has been hired who act as 'digital tour guides' for TUI guests from all over the world. TUI says it has consciously chosen Curaçao as the location of this team. "Not only because, because of the time difference, questions from European guests can easily be answered in the evening, but certainly also to offer a group of talented Curaçaoans perspective on work and income," according to the travel organization.

Rick van der Pluijm, Head of Dutch Caribbean and Suriname: “There are many talents on the island who are unemployed at home as a result of the pandemic. And that is of course a shame, because we believe in these local talents. We have therefore consciously focused on the local labor market. And with success! We have been able to expand our team with about 40 toppers.”

The new team of digital tour guides has recently undergone intensive training. Mainly online due to the pandemic, but also in a safe setting at the TUI office.

They have now assisted thousands of TUI guests all over the world. "Not unimportant is that the team can speak to the Dutch and Belgian guests in their own language. With these 40 new colleagues, a total of 100 employees now work at the travel organization in Curaçao, spread over the head office and the TUI stores." according to TUI.
