WILLEMSTAD – Police arrested three suspects following a shooting incident in the Rio Canario neighborhood late Sunday night that left one person injured and hospitalized.
According to police, officers were dispatched to a residence around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault and gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a dispute linked to a family conflict had escalated into violence.
During the altercation, shots were fired, resulting in one person being wounded. The victim was rushed to the Emergency Department of the Curaçao Medical Center for treatment.
Shortly after the incident, police arrested a 26-year-old woman from the Dominican Republic and a 36-year-old woman from Colombia on suspicion of assault. Both women were taken to a healthcare facility in Otrobanda for medical evaluation.
Later that night, authorities also arrested a 29-year-old man born in Curaçao. He is suspected of attempted murder and violations of the island’s firearms legislation.
All three suspects remain in custody while detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police have not yet released additional details regarding the condition of the victim or the events leading up to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
