THE HAGUE - Alexandra van Huffelen of Kingdom Relations will be in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten again in May. The State Secretary is currently in Aruba and this afternoon in Curaçao because of the introductory visit of Princess Amalia, together with her father and mother.
From Monday, May 23 to Friday, May 27, the State Secretary will talk to residents, entrepreneurs, volunteers and social organizations in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
The State Secretary is excited to travel to the islands: “Despite the fact that I speak with government officials, this trip mainly focuses on meeting the people who live on the islands. As government, we are there for them and not the other way around.
“In concrete terms, that means that I don't just want to talk to politicians. I would like to personally meet the residents and the civil society organizations to hear about their dreams and concerns.”
In Aruba, the Secretary of State speaks with various people at the 'Women Leadership Seminar'. In Curaçao, she spends part of her trip with business people from the Curaçao Business Association, the VBC. On Sint Maarten, she talks to Young Professionals about their ambitions, among other things.
