WILLEMSTAD - Minister Javier Silvania of Finance refutes the claims that Curaçao has not cooperated in timely sharing information regarding the collection policy of the Receiver, as stated in response to parliamentary questions. The minister addressed this issue in a letter to State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization, Alexandra van Huffelen.
Reports in the Dutch media suggested that Curaçao failed to cooperate promptly in providing information about the collection policy of the Receiver in response to parliamentary questions. Silvania asserts that his employees have always been cooperative and in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On May 10th, the minister was asked to contribute to the answers to questions from Member of Parliament Jan Kamminga regarding several misconceptions. The following day, the Ministry of Finance was required to address the same topic in the Parliament of Curaçao, even though it had been agreed that no substantive information would be shared without first informing Parliament.
Subsequently, after the parliamentary consultations, Silvania's cabinet, in collaboration with the Fiscal Affairs Sector and the Support Team of the Receiver, provided information on May 15th, contributing to the answers to the parliamentary questions, according to Silvania.
"We are willing and capable of making our contributions, but we need a reasonable amount of time, depending on the subject and circumstances, to prepare a thorough response," the minister stated in his letter. He asks for understanding regarding the situation and concludes his letter.
The State Secretary has yet to respond to the letter from the Minister of Finance.
