Prime Minister Rob Jetten to visit Caribbean part of the Kingdom in May

Local, The Netherlands, | By Correspondent March 26, 2026

THE HAGUE – Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten is set to make an introductory working visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom in May, marking one of the fastest such visits by a newly appointed Dutch head of government.

Jetten’s visit comes less than three months after the installation of his cabinet, significantly earlier than his predecessors. Former Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited the Caribbean only after nearly three years in office, while his successor Dick Schoof made the trip after approximately ten months.

At this stage, details of Jetten’s program have not yet been released by the Dutch Government Information Service (RVD).

The announcement follows news that Eric van der Burg, State Secretary for Kingdom Relations, will undertake his own introductory visit to the Caribbean islands from April 7 to 18.

The upcoming visits are expected to focus on strengthening ties within the Kingdom, with particular attention to cooperation, governance, and economic development in Curaçao and the other Caribbean territories.
