WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has described the upcoming visit of the Dutch prime minister to Curaçao as an important and historic moment for the island and for relations within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In a public message ahead of the visit, Pisas said the presence of the Dutch prime minister on Curaçao demonstrates “full attention” for the country within the Kingdom and reflects the importance of strengthening cooperation at a higher Kingdom level.

According to Pisas, the visit is expected to include significant discussions focused on the welfare and future development of Curaçao and its people.

The prime minister emphasized the importance of maintaining respectful and constructive dialogue between Curaçao and the Netherlands, saying Curaçao approaches the relationship with openness, dignity, and mutual respect.

During his remarks, Pisas also referred to the local spirit and identity of Curaçao, highlighting expressions and cultural phrases that symbolize warmth, unity, and optimism among the population.

He linked that same spirit to the national excitement surrounding Curaçao’s historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, referring to the island’s “Blue Wave” football movement that has united many residents in recent months.

Pisas suggested that the atmosphere surrounding the Dutch prime minister’s visit coincides with a broader period of pride and optimism on the island.

The visit comes at a time when Curaçao and the Netherlands are discussing several important issues, including economic cooperation, regional security, governance, energy, and future Kingdom relations.

Political observers see the trip as part of a broader effort to reinforce ties between The Hague and the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom amid changing geopolitical and economic dynamics in the region.
