WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas met on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with representatives of labor unions and the management of 2BAYS to discuss the company's upcoming transition plan and its impact on employees, particularly workers at CRU.

During the meeting, union representatives expressed their concerns about the future of CRU employees, whose positions could be affected by the transition process. CRU is a subsidiary of 2BAYS, and union leaders emphasized the importance of protecting jobs and ensuring stability for the workforce throughout the restructuring.

According to the government, all parties agreed to jointly examine the various options available and work toward practical solutions that will preserve the long-term viability of 2BAYS. The goal is to safeguard employment at CRU while also protecting the welfare of its employees during the transition period.

One of the key outcomes of the discussions was the decision to establish a joint commission comprising representatives of the labor unions and other stakeholders. The commission will further analyze the transition process, evaluate possible measures, and formulate recommendations aimed at balancing the company's sustainability with the interests of its workforce.

The meeting forms part of the government's ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue between management and employees as 2BAYS prepares to implement changes to its operations.

Prime Minister Pisas, who is also responsible for energy affairs, reiterated that dialogue, cooperation and shared responsibility remain the best approach to achieving sustainable solutions that serve the interests of the people of Curaçao and, in particular, the employees affected by the transition.
