Pisas: GIK has no proof of funds

Main news | By Correspondent February 28, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The cost of reopening Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) is $150 million. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas (MFK) says that preferred bidder Grupo Internashonal Kòrsou (GIK) has so far not shown any proof of funds for this.

In a post on Facebook, Pisas states that GIK has sent a "Letter of Intent" from the bank for $90 million. According to the prime minister, such a letter is not proof of funds and 90 million dollars would also be too low to restart the refinery.

GIK announced last week that it wanted to take another shot at being the preferred bidder in the process of finding an operator for the refinery, after the Caribbean Petroleum Refinery (CPR) was sidelined as a possible operator due to document forgery.
