WILLEMSTAD - Under the banner of the Undermining Action Center Curaçao (ACOC), a recent meeting of partners in the justice chain held a case discussion on the theme of 'addressing firearm issues in Curaçao'. During this meeting, an action plan was presented to more effectively address firearm issues in Curaçao.
The action plan is based on several sessions held during various case discussions organized by ACOC, where relevant partners come together to address specific issues in an integrated manner through collaboration.
The attending partners, including the Police Force (KPC), Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (Kmar), Coast Guard, Public Prosecutor's Office, Customs, Interpol, and the Ministry of Justice, had the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed action plan. In addition to addressing illegal firearm possession and smuggling, attention was also given to better regulating the legal firearm circuit.
The police play a crucial role in this process and take the lead in implementing the action plan. By collaborating with all relevant parties, they aim to achieve concrete results and enhance safety in our society.
ACOC provides a platform for public and private partners to come together and develop an integrated approach to addressing specific criminal issues, with each organization utilizing its own tasks and legal authority. ACOC falls under the Ministry of Justice.
