THE HAGUE - The parliament of Curaçao will send a delegation of three parliamentarians along with supporting staff to the Netherlands to attend the discussions in the Dutch House of Representatives regarding the extension of the agreement between Curaçao and Malta. This agreement aims to prevent tax evasion and double taxation. The president of the Curaçao parliament, Charetti America-Francisca, announced the delegation's arrival in a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Martin Bosma. The meeting is expected to take place in the second week of June. This coincides with the week when IPKO meetings are held in the Netherlands and the European parliamentary elections occur. The parliamentary committee from Curaçao will consist of parliamentarians Fergino Brownbill, Gwendell Mercelina, and Giselle Mc William.
Members of the VVD, NSC, and PVV parties have raised questions to seek clarification on the agreement. The parliamentarians from Curaçao will travel to the Netherlands to answer questions about the agreement. A member of the NSC faction is concerned that the agreement may allow profits from online gambling participants, including European Dutch, to be transferred to companies in other countries. Furthermore, parliamentarians are questioning whether the Dutch government can rule out the possibility of this agreement being abused to facilitate money transfers to other countries such as South American countries via Malta and/or Curaçao.
