WILLEMSTAD - PAR party leader Quincy Girigorie voiced concerns during a press conference about the unacceptable behavior of Finance Minister Javier Silvania of the MFK party. Silvania provided the requested documents to opposition parties just hours before a parliamentary session on tax debt cancellation.
In addition to Girigorie, parliament member Giselle Mc William of the MAN-PIN party also criticized Silvania’s actions. This criticism follows the parties' request to cancel Tuesday’s public meeting.
Girigorie claims that Silvania deliberately undermines parliamentary democracy by submitting documents at the last minute, making proper preparation impossible. “Silvania uses documents that do not help us and tries to justify wrong actions,” said Girigorie.
Mc William added that Silvania provides complex documents in a short period of time. “This shows that Silvania has no respect for parliament,” she stated.
Silvania expressed disappointment to local media about the cancellation of the session and defended his actions, arguing that the involved parliamentarians, being lawyers, should be able to process the information quickly.
