No station ship in the Caribbean region for the time being

WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean region will not have a station ship from Defense for the time being. Defense Minister Kajsa van Ollongren (D66) informed the House of Representatives. Ollongren provided an update on the situation as there is currently no navy ship in the Caribbean region. 

The minister says it is unclear when a ship will head towards the islands again. The last navy ship was the Zr.Ms. Groningen, stationed in the Caribbean region from May to October 2023. Before that, Zr.Ms. Holland was stationed for a period of seven months. 

Station ships support, among other things, in drug operations. For example, during the seven months in the region, Zr.Ms. Holland intercepted a total of 15,678 kilos of drugs.
