APC contributes to financing the transition to more sustainable energy
WILLEMSTAD - By signing the financing documents for the fourth wind turbine park just before the year turned, the general pension fund APC substantially contributes to the efforts that NuCapital has been deploying for decades for more sustainable energy in Curaçao.
The new wind turbine park is gradually taking shape on the north coast near Koraal Tabak.
On December 28th, Evelyn Kruithof-Bor, as director of APC, and Roy Kolader, as director of NuKoraal Tabak Windparks, signed the documents that form the basis for the financing of the new wind turbine park. NuKoraal Tabak Windparks is a joint venture between NuCapital and Aspiravi from Belgium. Both partners have extensive experience in developing wind turbine parks for greener and cleaner energy.
NuCapital has previously developed three wind turbine parks in Curaçao: Tera Kòrá I, Tera Kòrá II, and Playa Canoa.
This new wind turbine park on the way requires an investment of around US$60 million (ANG 110 million). APC, as a partner, is financing the loan capital to the value of US$48 million. Kruithof-Bor stated that she is proud that through this agreement, APC, as a partner of NuKoraal Tabak Windparks B.V., is part of the transition that Curaçao is undergoing towards more and more sustainable energy.
For the local government, this timely energy transition will mean significant savings of millions of dollars, as they will no longer need to spend on importing fossil fuels, while simultaneously reducing toxic gas emissions.
On behalf of NuKoraal Tabak Windparks, Kolader was pleased that for the financing of this specific project, they can be in the company of a reliable partner like APC. According to Hurdle 'Trip' Lea and Roy Kolader, managing directors of NuCapital, this project is a new step in their aspiration to advocate for the development of sustainable energy projects not only in Curaçao but also more broadly in the Caribbean and Latin America, as the need for climate change becomes increasingly urgent every day.
