WILLEMSTADThe military exercise Caribbean Djokja has begun on Curaçao, running from Wednesday until January 31, with over 120 soldiers training across the island. The exercise includes a Field Training Exercise (FTX) and a Live Fire Exercise (LFX), where the military personnel will hone their skills at various locations, including Hato Plain, Fuik Bay, Koraal Tabak, St. Cruz, and Wacao.

The 13th Delta Company, stationed on Curaçao since November 2024, is participating in the exercise. The unit is part of the Compagnie in de West, a contingent deployed to the Caribbean every four months. “The soldiers will move between training sites with 30 military vehicles and will overnight at strategic locations across the island,” stated the Ministry of Defense.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Curaçao’s warm climate and diverse landscapes provide the ideal conditions to prepare the soldiers for real missions. “Training in unfamiliar terrain helps the soldiers quickly adapt and collaborate effectively in complex situations,” the Ministry said. The exercise focuses on improving combat techniques, implementing new technologies, and enhancing teamwork.
