MFK reaffirms opposition to same-sex marriage

Main news | By Correspondent July 24, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The political party Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) has responded to the recent court ruling on same-sex marriage. In a press release, the party confirms that its stance on the issue remains unchanged, and it continues to oppose same-sex marriage.

The court has ruled in favor of allowing marriage between individuals of the same sex. MFK emphasizes that the party's position has not altered. During the 2021 election campaign, the party repeatedly made it clear that it is against same-sex marriage, adhering to principles derived from Biblical teachings.

Following the ruling, the party held an internal meeting to discuss the situation. Discussions also took place after the return of political leader Gilmar Pisas from vacation to clarify the members' positions.

The party expresses concern about the impact of the judicial ruling on Curaçaoan society and maintains that marriage is sacred and should only be between a man and a woman. Additionally, there are concerns about the psychological and emotional impact of this decision on younger and future generations.

Internationally, MFK notes a trend where more countries are moving towards allowing gender changes in children and adapting societies to the ideological viewpoints of gender change.

The party declares its commitment to protecting marriage and family. It continues to engage with religious groups and other family-oriented organizations to uphold the values of family life, religious freedom, and youth upbringing. Furthermore, the party underscores its respect for individuals who choose their own gender identity. While acknowledging the court's ruling, the party hopes that the court will consider its political viewpoints.
