WILLEMSTAD - Member of the MFK faction, Ramón Yung, believes that it is of utmost importance for the community to know that the MFK faction can never be against control and transparency. However, this needs to be done in accordance with the law and procedures.

During a parliamentary meeting on Thursday, February 21, to address the process of selecting a preferred bidder for the Curaçao Refinery, the PAR and MAN factions presented a motion.

Considering that in the process, CPR (Curaçao Port Refinery) submitted documents that, during two forensic investigations, were found to be falsified; the Central Bank provided evidence against CPR; RdK (Curaçao Refinery Company) indicated that they submitted evidence to American authorities in Miami against CPR for the delivery of falsified documents, and RdK was in court with CPR due to non-compliance with the payment agreement for storing material in tanks at Bullenbaai.

The PAR and MAN factions, in their motion, urge the government as a shareholder of RdK to have SOAB (Supreme Audit Office Curaçao) investigate the legality and effectiveness of decisions made by RdK and the government during the bidding process and present the investigation results to Parliament.

The MFK faction did not support the motion because during the meeting, Prime Minister Pisas explained in detail that it was precisely due to the control mechanisms implemented in the process that were able to detect, among other things, falsified documents.

On the other hand, as the motion indicates, the Central Bank provided evidence to the Public Prosecutor, while RdK submitted evidence to American authorities in Miami for the delivery of falsified documents.

Therefore, for the MFK faction, the facts are known, and those concerned have taken the necessary legal steps against those who made themselves guilty in this matter.

For this reason, the desire to conduct an investigation is deemed unnecessary. Additionally, as a faction that supports the current cabinet by agreeing and supporting this motion, it would imply that despite all the explanations and information provided by the Prime Minister in Parliament, the MFK faction does not have confidence in the current cabinet.

The MFK faction is of the opinion that Parliament has the necessary instruments at its disposal, such as the General Audit Chamber, to conduct additional investigations for more transparency in processes like this.
