WILLEMSTAD - The new 'Masterplan di Ser'i Otrobanda' was presented to Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper last week. The representatives of the event 'Kaya Kaya' and the Fundashon Ser'i Otrobanda did this during a meeting about the new plans of the district.

The master plan was already presented to Minister of Economic Development Ruisandro Cijntje and to the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) at the beginning of this year. Zarja Garmes has been chosen as the architect for the new plans for Otrobanda. After the presentation of the plan, Garmes met with the minister to discuss the plans together.

Both Minister Cooper and Minister Cijntje have announced that they will cooperate in the new plan. The focus will be on a better connection and better quality of life for local residents, but also for visitors and tourists.

The plan states that the stairs will be restored and there will be a footbridge in Arubastraat to connect two parts of the neighborhood. A public parking lot will be realized under the Juliana Bridge and art routes can be walked from there. In addition to the infrastructure plan, the neighborhood will also be refurbished with an outdoor gym, more homes and three schools.
